Four Days of of Celebrating the Patron Day of Ballinskelligs, St. Michael


This year´s Pattern Day (Patron Day) celebrations in Dun Geagan and Ballinskelligs are themed Ballinskelligs in the 1920´s and the main talk on September 29 (at 8 pm in the Community Hall) is about the Norwegian ethno musicologist Ole Mork Sandvik,
who toured Ireland including the Iveragh Peninsula in 1927. Sandvik recorded traditional music and song but he also took some rare Photographs in Ballinskelligs, Waterville and Caherdaniel which will be shown along his talk by Séamus Ó Catháin.
Other events during the Pattern are Sports Activities, a guided walk from Cable O´Leary´s Pub to Bolus Head on Sunday, 27 Sept;
Music in Tigh Rosie on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from 9.30pm and

the actual Pattern with the Rounds at St. Michael´s Well at 6 pm,

Mass in the Community Hall at 7.30pm and music and dance afterwards on Monday, 28 September.
