Dark Sky Award for South Kerry

The Irish Times newspaper is reporting  Southwest Kerry to receive rare ‘dark sky reserve’ status today that the South Kerry region is receiving the first "Dark Sky Reserve Status Award" in Ireland.
I have been out taking photographs of the stars and the night sky many times and I can only confirm that this area of South Kerry is indeed a fantanstic location for any stargazer and people who are interested in astro photography.

Well done to all the people involved from the South Kerry Astronomy group who developed this over the last years. A big thank you to Julie Ormonde for all the hard work.
