I did this wonderful boat trip from St.Finians bay pier with Willie Kennedy and his big rib. My family and friends came as well and my two grandsons enjoyed her first time being a skipper on the wheel.
Great scenery around Ballinskelligs and Portmagee and the bonus was that we saw dolphins, puffins and some seals resting on the rocks.
If you are interested in a trip contact Willie at 0872229787.

In July we went again to Pont-Scorff, the town in Brittany that is twinned to Waterville in Kerry. This time we had the two grand sons with us. Pont-Scorff is the town that holds the "Festival Saumon" every July and this time it was the 24th time. The festival is a mix of concerts, cultural activities and marine biology demonstrations  for the whole family. All events and concerts are free of charge. Three days of summer fun, ending with one of the best fire work displays I have ever witnessed.
Very enjoyable and great to see how a community works together. All the work was done by volunteers. The festival had about 20000 visitors over the three days.
Another morning a friend took us to Lorient, where Stage 5 of the Tour de France started. We had the pleasure to meet our only Irish cyclist in the race, Dan Martin, who received the title of "most competitive rider" and number 8 in the GC.
Apart from the nice landscape and interesting heritage we saw two beautiful art exhibition. Pont Aven has a very good museum that showed  an exhibition called : Le Talisman, a prophecy of colour.
Here is a part of the introduction text from the museum:
"In 1888, Paul Gauguin gives painting lessons to Paul Sérusier, who paints a co-lourful and nearly abstract representation of the Bois d’Amour in Pont-Aven. Back to Paris, Sérusier presents his work to the future “Nabi” artists (nabi mea-ning “prophet” in Hebrew). The painting becomes the group’s “Talisman” and their manifesto, as this group advocates, in Gauguin’s wake, liberation from reality and the use of pure colours." You can find more information about the exhibition here
The second art exhibition we saw showed the work of the mighty Henri Moore in the wonderful Fonds Héléne&Èdouard Leclerc in Landerneau.  It was such a great joy to see so many important pieces by the artist in one place outside a museum or collection in England. We spend several hours there. A large catalogue is available. The exhibition runs until November 4, 2018.

I can not give you a whole account of the great food, the state of the cycle ways, the nice evenings with friends but I hope the photos will give you some idea what we had experienced.
All photos were taken with iphone 4s.
