Black and White or Colour Photography?

Colour or

Black and white?

Colour

Movement

I went to Valentia Island the other evening again. The sky was overcast and created a very soft light with subtle colours and no shadows at all. I took some pictures of the rock formations and the sea and while I was doing it I knew already that some of them would end up beeing turned in to black and white photos. If you have a similar idea, take the photos in colour and do the black and white coversion later in your editing software. I used Lightroom and have some presets with different settings for split toning or vignetting and contrast. Some photos do not need any colour at all other photos contain more information when they are in colour.
I used a polarizer filter and tripod, all photos with the 2.5 50mm macro lens.

Feile na Greine Festival, Waterville.

Foggy hills behind Waterville

Loher Ringfort

The Boys of the Lough

Art and book sale

It is very hard to start this post about the festival as there was so much happening. Readings, music, theatre, workshops.......a wonderful exhibition by Pauline Bewick, pottery and art classes, my photowalk in the rain but in good mood, discussions and plenty of hope that there will be a Feile na Greine in 2013.
Lets remind Minister Deenihan that this is the sort of culture event that brings the community together and shows what Irelands real strenghts is.
A high quality, high valuable artistic showcase for locals and visitors. Size does not matter, but content does.

Kells Bay Garden, County Kerry

After a week fighting a flu I went out for the first time for a walk to Kells Garden. There are more photos from a recent visit on the German blog. A wonderful place to see again.
